Paddlers arose in the dark and wondered for a moment why they were doing so. They planned to greet the sun’s early light on the Ipswich River.  The first sights that thrilled the paddlers were patches of fog no more than head high on the water. It is called sea smoke on the ocean.

The traffic on the Salem/Beverly bridge  has become nightmarish for some commuters. The MBTA train shutdown for all stations north of the city started a week ago . Salem officials are concerned people may be bypassing Beverly to park in Salem or be dropped off there to avoid taking the shuttle bus from Beverly.
